Who we are

We are KT-TEK LTD (The Company) and our website address is https://kt-tek.com we are a small computer company based in the North-East of England, we are independently owned and have a small task force driving us forward.

What personal data do we collect and why do we collect it

When you place an order with us, we require the following information:

  • Name
  • Company Name (if applicable)
  • Address
  • Post Code
  • Telephone Number
  • Email Address
  • Username (if registering or returning registered users)
  • Password (if registering or returning registered users)

We only use this information to process your order, this will involve the use of third parties, the parties being our supplier and courier, in all cases, your data is held on servers that are controlled and secured within the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines.

When you place your order you can choose to pay via PayPal or Debit/Credit card, in both cases, PayPal process the payment, the means we never handle your payment details directly. As part of the payment via PayPal, we do send information regarding the name of the recipient, their delivery address, and the items being purchased, though this is for your protection as we will only send items to Confirmed delivery addresses.

We will email/text you about your order progress, this may include the following:

  • Order Confirmation Email
  • Payment Confirmation Email
  • Order Processing Email
  • Order Dispatched Email, this will contain tracking details
  • Courier email/text delivery details
  • Courier email/text delivery confirmation
  • 1 Product review request (20 days after the order)
    • This will also act as a reminder that the 14 days right to cancel has passed
  • In the event of a product recall, we will email you if your product is affected

In the event that you wish to receive a physical copy of your invoice, then we will use your billing address details for this, providing this is different from your delivery details.

We will never misuse your personal data, meaning you will not be emailed with our latest offers, unless you have subscribed to our newsletter.

When your data is with us it is stored behind an SSL-protected server that only authorised employees can access, we will also continue to work with our supplier and courier to ensure your data is fully protected.

In the event that you are part way through ordering and your cart becomes abandoned, 1 hour after the last activity with the cart, awaiting payment or the order has failed, if an email address was entered, our system will email you the following day to remind you of this, this will only be 1 reminder email and your cart will be emptied 5 days after this.

Comments:

When you leave comments on this site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection, this is simply to help make using our site the best experience possible.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media:

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We download all the pictures and texts from our supplier and store them on our own server, though some items may have links to the manufacturer’s website, this will be for the latest software and drivers or further technical information.

Who we share your personal data with:

We only share your data with our supplier and courier, this is solely to process your order.

How long we retain your data:

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any, as we offer a guest checkout service) we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information upon request.

Your personal data will be sent to our supplier and courier, though this is purely to complete your order.

What data breach procedures do we have in place:

In the event of a data breach, we will work swiftly to investigate how this happened and inform the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) of this within 72 hours of us being aware of it happening, we will also improve our security to prevent any further breaches.

The ICO and GDPR request that if the data breach is a high risk, meaning this will cause adverse effects to you, then we must inform you within 72 hours, though we feel that with all data breaches you should be informed if your personal data is affected, so we will inform you of this if it happens.

What third parties do we receive personal data from:

At this moment, other than the third parties named above there are no others that we send or receive data from.

What automated decision-making and/or profiling do we do with user data:

All the data collected, as expressed above, will only be used as outlined above. We do not use your data, to build a profile and target you, as many other companies do.

Industry regulatory disclosure requirements:

At this moment there are none we must complete, though this may change, it will only affect customers from the point of that change.

What happens if we update this policy?:

In the event that we update this policy, for legal upkeep and other reasons to help keep your data secure, we will update this page but will keep an archived version of the previous policy, only the version active at the time you provide us with personal data will be applicable to you and your data.
